Metal Tapes, Braids and Shielding Sleeves

Scotch^® 24

A conductive tape made of tinned copper 0.12 mm thick conductors braided to a flat form. Highly conformable, with high tensile strength, conforms to all profiles. Tension thickens its open-weave knit construction. Total section 0.6 mm². It can be used to wrap or also applied as a thin tube to short segments.

Usage:

• braided concentric shielding, e.g., in HV splices or on shorter data cables
• conductive connection
• additional shielding of small cables and lead wires.

 

 

Scotch^® 25

A flat braid of tinned copper wires. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor application. Total section 16 mm². Easily solderable. To connect with cable shielding, a lever spring is recommended. Corrosion and weather resistant.

Usage:

• to interconnect a metal shielding or a steel jacket in HV splices
• to lead out grounding of cable terminations of some cable types, e.g., with tape shielding
• to provide a conductive and conformable connection of grounded parts with high diameter, e.g., equipment boxes and transport equipment.

 

Scotch^® 25-S

The same as Scotch^® 25, but 25 mm² in section.

 

 

Stínící punčoška

A tinned copper braid. Can be shaped as a flat tape or as a tube with high diameter (up to about 150 mm). Section 25 mm². Can provide shielding and conductive interconnection of metal shielding in splices, using one element without wrapping. It is recommended to use the shielding sleeve with a 3M™ lever spring. The minimum transition resistance of the bond is guaranteed regardless of the quality of the installation. This system, developed in 3M™ laboratories, has been tested for short-circuit 10 kA current transfer for a period of 7 s without damage.

Usage:

• for shielding and also metal shielding or steel jacket intercornnection in HV splices
• to lead out grounding of cable terminations of some cable types, e.g., with tape shielding
• for additional shielding of short cable tracks
